Trophy Hunting

Trophy Hunting

Sustainable, regulated hunting that funds conservation and community development.

Programme

Community-Based Trophy Hunting

KVO's regulated trophy hunting program is a cornerstone of its conservation funding model, generating revenue that directly benefits wildlife protection and community welfare.

Since 1995, KVO has managed a sustainable trophy hunting programme for Himalayan ibex and blue sheep under strict harvest protocols. This is not sport hunting — it is a carefully managed conservation tool that generates critical funding.

The programme operates under permits issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan Wildlife Department. Only a limited number of permits are issued each year based on population surveys, ensuring sustainability.

80% of all trophy hunting fees go directly to KVO communities, funding education, healthcare, and infrastructure projects. The remaining 20% is transferred to the government exchequer.
